About Us
This section will introduce you to the current office bearers of the society and specifically the person in your region of South Africa who would be the contact person for Society activities at a regional level. Also here you will find a list of our “partner” organizations with a short description of each and a link to their website if applicable.
Council members:
Please click on the link to the right of the names of the Executive Council Members to view their abbreviated CV and a photo, where available. The executive is made up of the President, Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer and the Immediate Past President.
Partners:
Our partner organizations include other non-profit organizations, governmental departments and private commercial concerns from whom sponsorship is obtained to fund, at no direct benefit to the company concerned, educational activities of the Society.
SA Military Health Service:
This is the medical branch of the South African National Defense Force – it is partnered with TSSA in that TSSA members are involved in training provided to SAMHS staff and in recruiting members to the Medical Reserve Force. Visit their site at: www.mhs.mil.za
Automobile Association of South Africa:
The AA-SA offers members of TSSA a 15% discount on AA membership and partners with the TSSA through vehicular trauma prevention campaigns. www.aa.co.za
EMSSA – Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa:
A medical professional society dedicated to the establishment of quality Emergency Medicine care of prehospital and in-hospital emergency conditions, including trauma, at the initial care level. This sister organization of TSSA was established in 2003 with membership open to paramedics, doctors and nurses interest in emergency care. www.emssa.org.za
Arrive Alive:
This government sponsored trauma prevention campaign is directed toward prevention of road deaths and focus is around the festive season each year. It encourages visible policing, avoidance of drunk driving and vehicle and pedestrian safety. www.arrivealive.co.za
